Seminoles Rally Past Tar Heels For First ACC Football Win Of Season

without comments

Florida State won their first ACC college football game of the year on Thursday, though it certainly wasn’t easy. The Seminoles were down 24-6 midway through the third quarter before mounting a furious comeback to defeat North Carolina 30-27. FSU quarterback Christian Ponder threw for a career high 395 with three touchdowns and no interceptions to pace his team. The Seminoles improved their overall record to 3-4 while North Carolina dropped to 4-3.

College football betting enthusiasts who overlooked the Seminoles dismal record against the spread were rewarded by Florida State’s outright win as +2′ road underdogs. FSU covered for only the second time this season, upping their record against the college football pointspread to 2-5. The Tar Heels haven’t been a very good investment either, and the loss left their ATS tally at 2-4. The 57 points scored went OVER the posted total of 48′ for the Seminoles fifth OVER in six lined games.

The win also should help settle some of the talk about the future of head coach Bobby Bowden, at least for the moment. With the uncharacteristically slow start by Florida State, there has been a good deal of speculation that the venerable coach should step away from the program. He expressed some relief in his postgame comments:

“The talk that we’ve had down there, there’s only one thing that solves it. Winning. Play close and fight your guts out? Who cares? You’ve got to win.”

Winning QB Ponder suggests that the comeback win demonstrates the character of this Seminoles team:

“This proves how good we can be, and I’m just proud of the way we fought back. Down what, 24-6? And we could have given up and we didn’t. That’s just the character of the guys on this team.”

The game was supposed to be a showcase for North Carolina, which entered the game with the nation’s #3 ranked total defense. Tar Heels’ coach Butch Davis observed that rankings are irrelevant once the game begins:

“It’s a little bit of a wake-up call for the defense. Reputations and rankings and stats and all that stuff is somewhat insignificant. You’ve got to play.”

Tar Heels’ cornerback Kendric Burnley added:

“It’s too frustrating. I don’t know what to say or how to explain anything right now. It tears you apart.”

Florida State can get back to .500 next weekend with a home game against another team looking for their first ACC win of the season, North Carolina State. That’ll be followed by two tough games on the road at Clemson and Wake Forest. The Tar Heels, meanwhile, must regroup in time for another nationally televised Thursday night game at Virginia Tech next week. After that, they’ll return home to take on Duke and Miami in successive weeks.

Packers Shut Out Lowly Lions

without comments

The Green Bay Packers didn’t do a good job protecting their quarterback last Sunday, but against the lowly Detroit Lions it didn’t really matter. Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers was sacked five times, but Green Bay used a big first half offensive outburst to coast to a 26-0 NFL victory over the Detroit Lions. Rodgers threw two first half touchdown passes which was complimented by four Mason Crosby field goals as Green Bay improved to 3-2 on the season. The Lions slumped to 1-5 with the loss.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who backed the Packers as -14 home dogs easily cashed their tickets with Green Bay’s third pointspread cover in five games. Detroit slipped to 2-4 against the spread. The 26 points scored went UNDER the posted total of 48′.

In the victory, Packers’ receiver Donald Driver passed Sterling Sharpe for first place on the franchise reception list. Sharpe finished his career with 596 receptions, Driver now has 602. After the game, he talked about the accomplishment:

“It couldn’t it come in a better place — at home in front of the fans I’ve played in front of for so many years. It feels good. Now I just have to wait on Sterling to call me and congratulate me.”

Despite the convincing victory, cornerback Tramon Williams wasn’t happy with the relatively narrow margin:

“It feels like a 50 to zero game, but we didn’t quite get there. I felt we should’ve put more points on the board.”

For the Lions, their quarterback woes continued. Matthew Stafford is already out indefinitely with an injured knee, and against Green Bay backup Daunte Cullpepper injured his hamstring in the third quarter and was replaced by the Lions’ third string quarterback Drew Stanton. Cullpepper is now listed as ‘questionable’ on the official NFL injury report. After the game, he talked about Detroit’s lack of offense:

“It’s very disappointing, very frustrating. It’s embarrassing to me not to be able to move it on the field and get points on the board. We’ve got to figure out a way to do that, simple as that.”

The Packers will play on the road this Sunday, heading to Cleveland to face the Browns. The game is currently off the board as linemakers try to get a handle on the personnel impact of the Browns’ struggle with a flu bug making its way through the locker room. Green Bay will host the Minnesota Vikings the following Sunday followed by a trip to Tampa Bay on November 8. Detroit has a bye this weekend and will return to action as they host the St. Louis Rams on November 1. They’ll play their next two on the road, with games in Seattle and Minnesota.

What To Know About The Eligibility And Insurability Of Canadian Travel Insurance

without comments

There happens to be such a great deal of people around our planet that really love the idea of leaving their country to travel to another one. Most of their reasons are buried within a universal desire to learn about the cultures and customs of others. Because of this, we will discuss what you need to know about the eligibility and insurability of Canadian travel policies.

The first concern that many traveling families have is over the kind of great benefits that such a type of insurance policy could provide for them during their trip away from their mother land. Do not forget that the concept of you, or any member of you family, becoming seriously injured while out of the country is actually very real. If the country that you are visiting does not want to cover you medically, this type of policy could really suite you and your family quite well.

This kind of nice policy is not just for people who are leaving the country of Canada to visit another country. Such policies are also sold by Canadian companies, to people that will be spending their vacation in Canada. Some people might even be doing business in Canada and they could benefit from such policies. The people visiting Canada get all of the fine benefits that we are discussing within this article.

Before you even think about sinking any of your hard earned cash into travel insurance, please take a moment to consider that two types of policy are actually common place within this market. The first kind of travel policy that is commonly sold is what people often call the single trip policy. Keep in mind that this policy will only cover one trip or vacation. It is also important to keep in mind that this is typically all that is needed for people who do not plan on doing frequent traveling.

There is another kind of policy that has quickly become common place within this market and it is what most people call the multiple trip policy. The great thing about this kind of policy is that while it might require much more of an initial investment, it really ends up saving most people in the long run. This can be easily seen by taking a moment to compare the price of such a policy to the sum of a great many single trip policies. This helps anybody to better understand the intention of such a policy.

While it has been made very clear that the possibility of getting seriously injured while traveling to another country is very present, let us not forget to consider that such policies also cover the unthinkable possibilities. Things like accidental death or even air flight accidents, are typically included within the context of many upper quality travel insurance policies.

When people take the time to consider the worst possible things that probably won’t happen but very well could, such as serious injury, or worse yet possible death, they typically wonder if any practical and common issues are covered by such policies. The good news is that a great deal of policies include practical benefits within their context, a lot of them will even cover any luggage that is either lost of stolen.

After learning just a little more about Canadian travel insurance, as well as it’s eligibility and insurability, you might want to do some additional research. Keep in mind that as far as eligibility goes, if you are already a card carrying owner of valuable insurance policies that has a positive track record, many providers will want to add you to their list of travel insurance clients.

Offers travel insurance service if you are visitors to Canada insurance, a Canadian expatriate traveling worldwide, or a Canadian considering a trip abroad, and visitors to Canada medical insurance.
